Yesterday I took part in the Stick It To MS event held in the Birmingham NIA.The event was two fold - to raise loads and loads of money for the Multiple Sclerosis Charity and also to break the world record for the "Largest Drum Kit Ensemble". Both happened - loads and loads of money was raised through sponsorship and 582 drummers played a 5 minute groove at the same time. And it was very very LOUD!!!!!!The day started early with load-in starting at 8:00am. Once setup breakfast was on the cards. Load-in and registration continued to run until 12:45pm - there were an awful lot of people and an awful lot of equipment to get into the arena. At 1:00pm the event started. John Thomson made the introductions and Robin Guy and Jason Bittner started performing a drum duet. Jojo Mayer then took to the stage and performed a fantastic solo and finally Karl Brazil performed before leading the masses in the record attempt.
The record was broken!!!! Following which the load-out started. Leaving the arena at 5:30pm I headed home South along the glorious M5 feeling rather proud that I had been part of this wonderful event.
